And his hair is terrific too
Donald Trump offers to rebuild World Trade Center twin towers
To Donald Trump, the proposals for the replacement for the World Trade Center look like a junkyard. His solution? Rebuild the twin towers, more or less.
Standing in the lobby of his Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, the developer turned TV star on Wednesday presented a model of his own envisioned towers, reflecting the original shape of the skyscrapers that fell Sept. 11, 2001.
The towers he advocates would be 111 stories tall — one floor taller than the lost towers.
Plans for the site, to be dominated by a 1,776-foot Freedom Tower, have been stalled lately because of security concerns, though Gov. George Pataki assured New Yorkers last week that the project was not losing momentum.
“Failure to rebuild is not an option,” the Republican governor said in a speech in downtown Manhattan.
But Trump had little use for the futuristic, angular Freedom Tower model.
The plan “looks like a junkyard, a series of broken-down angles that don’t match each other. And we have to live with this for hundreds of years?” he said. “It is the worst pile of crap architecture I’ve ever seen in my life.”
OK, before I say anything...just look:

He’s right. The Freedom Tower is abominable, and when I saw the mockup of the Twins...it looks right.

while i tend to agree, i find it amusing that in the ‘70s, that’s precisely what people thought of the original twin towers.

Keith Olbermann on MSNBC had a great, and touching idea.
Rebuild them exactly the same, but make one 229 ft, 4 in shorter than the other. Everything else would be EXACTLY the same but this detail. Why? Because 229 ft, 4 in works out to 2752 inches - one inch for every life lost that day.

as a NJ resident who has lived and worked not far from the site of the world trade center attacks, i feel as do many others in the NJ and NY area that the towers should be rebuilt just as they looked before the attacks with some upgrades on its strength and security measures...that ugly looking monster that they want to build, The Freedom Tower, is just wrong...build both towers back not just some shitty looking piece of art{?}

my concern with building it as it had been is that perhaps it will be difficult to bring people back to that. after what happened in 93 and then of course 9/11, i know i would not want to work in “the same” buildings.
i also wonder if that would be possible to do while also preserving the footprints of the original towers (an issue that, with due respect, is not on my list of priorities, but then again, i didn’t lose a loved one)

My personal feelings is that this was a place that shouldn’t have anything but a memorial built and nothing else. Honoring all those that died as a result of that attack is better.
The thought of rebuilding on consecrated ground actually makes my blood run cold. I know that it sounds stupid but it is the way I feel. Rebuild the world trade center someplace else and let those that died and couldn’t be found there rest in peace.

screw that inches crap… one inch per life? wtf is that supposed to mean.
I really like the idea of building each tower one story higher than before though.
There’s one more idea I really like. Build three towers next time instead of two and have the middle one stick up twice as high as the other two…

I detest Donald Trump, myself.
But goddamn if he hasn’t hit the nail on the head.

One day Trump will tell us how he really feels.
