Didn’t she ever look down?
Can someone tell me why every softcore porn shoot involves a woman looking at her own vagina with surprise, shock and mystery? Didn’t she know it was there before the photo shoot? Has she never taken off her panties before?
They always look down as if saying “Oh my GOD! What is that?!? Oh me oh my, I have to touch it and explore it, it’s such a mystery!” It’s like cats being fascinated by their own tails. Hey stupid: it’s yours. You’ve owned it your whole life.
I’m just sayin’.

Seagate 8GB CompactFlash Photo Hard Drive - It sucks, and it sucks hard
The product in question is the Seagate 8 GB CompactFlash Photo Storage Hard Drive (ST68022C-RK).

I have been itching to write about this for weeks, but I wanted to finalize the RMA-return-replacement process before I did it. I finally have a working replacement...so let the bitching begin.

Scanning negatives
Is anyone out there somewhat of an expert with scanning 35mm negatives? I have three different kinds here, the typical brownish colored ones you always see, but two others, one is a lightish blue-purple color and one is a darker purplish color. The two purplish ones simply won’t scan with any sort of definition. It’s as though the negative has lost information. The images look like a first-gen digital camera.
If anyone has any expertise in this area, please let me know.

A rose by any other death
Part of some dead flowers still hanging around my house. I give the wife flowers and she’s loathe to let them go until the earth itself ends. :)

I’d like to thank the Academy
My shot of a lonely TV in a snowstorm was just picked by TVSquad as the Flickring Television: Photo of the week.
You serve a family for years, sometimes decades. You bring them the end of a war, a meathead, moonshine-making Army doctors, the fall of the Berlin wall, gay couples kissing, a fat white man’s ass, “I did not have sex with that woman,” oversexed housewives and Vic Mackey, and then one day they put you on the curb because they bought a slimmer, newer model with 42” of thin, sexy real estate.
Or it’s just a busted old TV. It’s all in how you look at it, I guess.

Update on the Brooklyn camera scammers
Interesting…
I received a call this morning from Ed Lopez, the owner of PriceRitePhoto. We spoke at length and he told me that the activity that has resulted from my post on my experience with his business has most certainly impacted his business. Mr. Lopez told me that he was calling to apologize and that Mr. Philips was going to be terminated at a company board meeting later on this morning. He confirmed to me that they do have the camera in question in stock and although I am not interested in purchasing it from them at this point indicated that he would sell it for me at the advertised price. Subsequently Ed sent me the following email:
“On behalf of Priceritephoto I would like to sincerely apologize for the negative experience that you have experienced with our company. As a company this is not representative of the way we treat our customers. If there is anything that we can do at this point to rectify the situation, please let me know. We have tens of thousands of happy customers who have purchased form us in the past and it is our commitment to give our customers the best value when dealing with us. We are doing a comprehensive review of our company’s procedures to ensure that something like this never occurs. We have also terminated Mr. Philips from his position with our company.”
This story went wide, and the camera dealer in question was feeling a lot of heat. One has to wonder what really motivated this apology, especially since so many other customers of this company have made similar claims.
For your protection: This company has used the following monikers in the past. If you see one of these names when you are shopping online for gear this Christmas...avoid them.

I’ve decided to actually *use* my flickr account and want to add people...so if you have one and you use it, lay your flickr name in the comments and we can all flickr each other and play with our flickrs and so forth.

Face the Face
This is a really cool project. A photographer went up to people on the street and asked them what they were thinking the moment before he stopped them. Each person has a portrait accompanying their entry. Interesting if you like to watch people.
