Workin’ it
Not only did I do 40 minutes on weight and resistance machines, plus a few PT-style exercises, I did a full course of basic pool PT exercises, plus:
I swam a quarter frigging mile. Me. The guy who has trouble walking from the car to the front door. A full 1500 feet (10 laps, 75 feet each way). It’s actually a little more than a quarter mile.
Boy, are my arms tired.
*UPDATE*
I’ve officially lost 10.4 pounds. And I’m full to the gills every meal. Loads of chicken, but I love chicken, so it’s all good. God bless strawberries and cherries, I tell you what. I can kill a quart of strawberries without even blinking. :)

swimming is truly one of the best exercises they say, especially for back issues. i still avoid for now, due to my horrendous fear…
... of bathing suits ;)
i love the resistance machines. my main gym has resistance circuit machines, but the one closest to the house doesn’t, nor does the one i go to for pilates. i like the fact i don’t have to tinker with the settings for the seat, and the back, and the blah and the blah. being 5’0” means EVERYTHING is always off. on these machines, you don’t have to do a damn thing, just push in the appropriate knobs to set resistance.
are you on a particular diet?
i miss fruit. i’m not allowed any due to the sugar. then again, i miss pasta, pizza, ice cream, bread… ;)
i just started week 11 of my diet.
btw, i sent you an email about my bday and never heard from you, jerk :P

keep it goin dude.
Remember to think of it like an engine.
It’ll be slow at first, but as you get in slightly better shape you’ll be able to exercise even more vigorously, and lose even more weight.

Nothing but low fat...and that’s only due to the calories. I’m eating 1900 calories or less a day.

I miss ice cream and sorbet mostly, but on the other hand, I crave fresh fruit now. And asparagus. I wanna make asparagus like, every day.
OK, bread. I miss the hell out of that. I don’t eat a lot of bread anymore, and good God I love great bread. Not that shitty diet bread, or Wonderbread but really great cibatta, or a crusty baguette, or...oh lord BREAD! A ROLL! MY KINGDOM FOR A LOAF!
i just started week 11 of my diet.
And from what I read you’re doing great too… :)

Oh crap! I’ll look for it. I’ve got around 300 unreads this week alone. sorry!
Thanks everyone, for the encouragement. I swear that before I’m 40 I will be half the man I am. or close to it. ;)

it could be worse… that’s 900-1000 more than i eat a day ;) but i’m under doctor supervision, so i don’t recommend you kids do this at home! ;)
it’s amazing that i don’t get hungry at all. well, to be fair, at 10pm when we still hadn’t had dinner and i last had food at 4:30 (and had a total of 300 calories by that time), i was hungry, but that seems reasonable! (p.s. john got a new car today, that’s why we didn’t get home till 10. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)
And from what I read you’re doing great too… :)
thank you :) although i feel my suffering has paid off, i still feel i should be losing even more to get the suffering-to-weightloss ratio at a fair number! i’m losing every week (i have yet to stay the same or gain), but my average over the 11 weeks has been on the low end of the range one can lose on this diet. i suppose slow and steady wins the yadda yadda, and i’ll be more likely to keep it off than if i lost on the high range.
you should be very proud of your loss! :)

btw… did you ever have your metabolism tested? it’s an easy as hell test (all you have to do is breathe for 10 minutes. i do that all that time ;)…
it turns out that my metabolism is average or faster than average, so i can’t blame that, but i always wondered!

COngrats Jim!! Smashing good job.
I have all desire in the world, just lack the motivation. I start and am good for a day or two then I stop.
But I want to lose weight. I hate looking in the mirror.
