What liberal media?

Here’s the story the AP put out

Audience boos as Bush offers best wishes for Clinton’s recovery

September 3, 2004, 1:57 PM EDT

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) _ President Bush on Friday wished Bill Clinton “best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery.”

“He’s is in our thoughts and prayers,” Bush said at a campaign rally.

Bush’s audience of thousands in West Allis, Wis., booed. Bush did nothing to stop them.

Bush offered his wishes while campaigning one day after accepting the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in New York. Clinton was hospitalized in New York after complaining of mild chest pain and shortness of breath.

Bush recently praised Clinton when the former president went to the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait. He lauded Clinton for his knowledge, compassion and “the forward-looking spirit that Americans like in a president.”

Except everywhere else on earth, people with audio and video of the event heard the crowd CHEER.  APPLAUD.  They did not in any way, shape or form boo Clinton.  The AP has since retracted this disgusting piece of misrepresentation.  You can hear the audio for yourself right here.

Oh, THAT liberal media!

*Update*

LisaS from Right Voices was actually there and has screenshots of the original AP article.

Someone on Lee’s blog who was there said that there were boo’rs in the audience, but they were definitely in the minority. The Bush did nothing comment was completly ridiculous and definitely a bias by-product.

A few boo’ers will be in every audience, because the one thing you can always count on is that an asshole or twelve will be in a crowd of thousands.

The clip I found speaks pretty clearly though...most people were loudly agreeing that we all hope Clinton hops out of the hospital bed and diddles a nurse.  ;)

Open Letter follows below:

Dear Liberal Media,

Did you wonder why Bush didn’t do anything to stop the people booing when he gave Clinton his best wishes?

DO YOU THINK IT MIGHT BE THAT BUSH COULDN’T HAVE POSSIBLY HEARD A HANDFUL OF BOO’ERS OVER THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE CHEERING???

It’s pretty simple, sorry you liberals have to keep coming to conservatives for clarity. But hey, we keep coming to you for comedy, so it’s a symbiotic relationship!

Okay, asshats, here’s some more clarity:

Just because you guys are angry and jealous that your candidate is going to lose in November *DOES* *NOT* *JUSTIFY* your <style journalism.</a>

hmmm… that was suppposed to be “Moore-style journalism” at the end there.  It showed up correctly in the preview....

I agree with Sean.  There was clear bias there.  The cheering actually sounded vaguely like booing because of it’s tone.  But the idea that the audience just booed and bush should have done something is ridiculous.

davidst: Not sure what you’re disagreeing with me about.. I was passing on an eye witness account. And I agree that there was bias. .. so what are you talking about?

oh yes lets all suddenly think that there is a liberal bias in the media. because that is so the right thing to do right now. id like to think that there is two sides to the media. seeing as how this is a bipartisian country. but thats just me. maybe a handful of repblicans and a majority of the people on thsi site that are in that party seem feel that there is a liberal bias because they dont belive a single thing that comes out of any liberal reporters mouth. i guess thats justifiable.
here is an example. normaly i dont watch fox unless its the simpsons. but once in a while ill cetch something. the other day when i woke up to check the weather my tv was on fox, probaly from simpsons the night before. and low and belhold what was i watching? a poll result. now isnt going to be interesting. well i watched it, and can you guess what it said? according to the NON BIAS AND TOTALY FAIR AND BALANCED fox news out of 1000 people polled over labor day weekend 65% were for bush and 47% were for kerry. now that just makes me feel completely confident in my country. specially sense the data of 112% of people were collected. maybe fox was overacheaving. maybe it calculated wrong. or maybe that are a bunch of faciast propogana assholes? i dont have the answer.

i dont have the answer.

You could have just posted this as every comment you made. It says it all for you.
