Show yourself!

OK.  I just looked at my stats, and 0.4% of visitors to right-thoughts.us in the last 24 hours were using Internet Explorer 4.  WHO ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU COMPUTING AT ME FROM THE PAST?  Show yourself(s).  I demand to know how you surf today’s interwebs with such archaic technology.  Says the guy who still tries to remember alt tags for Lynx users.  :)

By the way, big ups to my homies using flavors of Firefox and Opera, as well as the Konqueror and Safari peeps in the hizzle.  Alternative browsers rule!

In case anyone is curious, half the traffic here comes via IE6, and of what is left, 75% is a flavor of Firefox or Netscape and the rest is split between other IE versions and other browsers, including one lone Omniweb user.  What up, dog?  How your Mac be an’ shit?

I only use IE 6 because I’m at a dorm and CCA doesn’t support IE 7 since it’s in beta.

Only difference I see is that people now make their sites viewable about 900% better with Firefox (i.e. right-thoughts.us), which subsequently makes it looks crappy in IE. But that’s due to an IE CSS flaw or something, I’ve been told.

I also think Firefox users make too big of a deal about the greatness of Firefox. It’s a freakin’ web browser.

@Jim -> The IE4 person could be disguising their browser ID. Yeah, yeah, it’s more likely they’re just unpatched Windows 98.

@xlokix -> Yes, it’s a freakin’ web browser. And all hype aside, from a practical perspective it makes your system about 99% less likely to be pw3nd by viewing web pages. And even if you don’t visit “those” kinds of sites, you’re still at risk - exploits have been loaded into banner ads, MySpace pages, etc.

Erik - Bingo.  That’s my biggest reason I like Firefox - it’s immune to a majority of exploits.  Plus, the extensions, I mean you can make it do anything you want, basically.

Not to be picky or anything, but IE 7.0 is an official update as of 11-1-06. It sucks but its out. Compared to Fire fox it’s a joke, and IMHO it’s not even as good as Avant.

FF 2.0 booooyyyyeeee!!

Sorry I meant Maxthon rather than Avant. Maxthon was a nice compromise if you have to run an IE environment with all the security holes and don’t want to mess with IE Tabs in FF. I was expecting IE 7.0 to look and feel more like Maxthon.

Another swing and a miss from MS.

I’ve never gotten assraped by a myspace ad, nor do I know anyone who has.

I like Opera. It’s all good.
