Run Hillary Run
If there is a God, He’ll make this happen.
Official Washington and the entire press corps will be rocked when Hillary Rodham Clinton is picked as Kerry’s VP and a massive love fest will begin!
So predicts a top Washington insider, who spoke to the DRUDGE REPORT on condition he not be named.
“All the signs point in her direction,” said the insider, one of the most influential and well-placed in the nation’s capital. “It is the solution to every Kerry problem.”
Ohpleaseohpleaseohplease. Hillary without Bill is something that even a lot of the left won’t tolerate. And talk about your polarizing figures...Hillary being the VP nominee will drive Republicans to action by the millions. I’m pretty sure Bush is winning anyway, but this would be a nice way to solidify that fact.
Then again, Drudge is often full of it.

Jim: You’re right about Hillary being the best get out the vote campaign the Republicans could ask for (I think Bush is having the same effect on Democrats. :-)) ... and I’d be surprised if the Kerry camp isn’t taking that heavily into consideration when the numbers are so tight. While Hillary might bring out more Dems, she’d be guaranteed to bring out more Repubs. Edwards might bring out more Dems, but he isn’t likely to bring out more Repubs.

Frankly, the idea of Hillary being picked makes no sense to me.
Neither did choosing Geraldine Ferraro in ‘84 against an incredibly popular President. Just because an idea makes no sense is no guarantee that the Dems won’t try it…
OT: Not for nothing, JimK, your election countdown is a day off. It shows that the election is in 126 days (from Wednesday, June 30). My math says that 126 days is precisely equal to 18 weeks. 18 weeks from today is the day AFTER the election.
Unless that’s the day that the Dems get to go vote, in which case, never mind.

No doubt. Any idea how long before a convention the running mate is typically announced?

Absolutely. I have no significant objections to Edwards...He’s kind of the brown bag lunch of the group in my mind. It’s edible, but nothing to get excited over.

Has it always been day off? I’ll check it out…

The only one I was physically present for (when Bush-41 announced Dan Quayle, in NOLa) happened a day or two prior to the actual convention. They have to have all the convention signs printed in time, after all… *shrug*

But isn’t he a successful (gag) lawyer? (gag) That, of course, means he’s sleazy. That probably won’t go over well with the average “Bubba” in the south. I’ll bet they hate lawyers as much as the rest of the country does.

Is it just me or have all of Kerry’s VP ideas been more interesting than Kerry himself?

I don’t see Hillary being picked as the VPmate. Sure she bring tons of name recognition and would energize female voters… but she is a New York senator being added to a MA campaign. Edwards would be a much much stronger, and possibly deadly to the Bush camp, addition. Edwards does have two liabilities, though: relative inexperience and a magnetic personality so strong that it would make Kerry look even MORE zombie-like. Still… he’d bring with him a good chunk of the South and could possible steal some Republican votes.. just the opposite of what Hillary would do. Frankly, the idea of Hillary being picked makes no sense to me.
