Round ‘em up

It’s been a very crappy week here at Casa de Kenefick.  Donna’s not been so great, a few episodes and a pretty scary one yesterday, and I have had a monster flare-up on gout in my ankle, so bad that I actually cried at one point.  I haven’t been able to walk without a crutch for a couple of days, and it’s only *just* starting to feel slightly better. I used to giggle at the very idea of gout, but jesus lord a’mercy this is painful when it comes on like that.  Normally it’s just mildly annoying, but this has been an extra special treat!

Needless to say, I haven’t been too driven to blog much, but i was stashing links.  So now I have too many to make into individual posts, so before they all go stale, I bring them to you.  Think of it as like a mixed fruit basket, only without the fruit.  Or the basket.  Or that cool colored crinkly plastic.  Or a card.

Ever wonder how a leftist becomes a member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy?  Wonder no more. Can’t wait to see the follow-up in about two weeks where she talks about the death threats and hate mail that the party of tolerance dumps on her for her “betrayal.”

Now this is a hero.  It’s a damned shame he was killed in the process, but he likely saved some lives.

So, Ward Churchill is a dickhead, but would he ever actually advocate terrorism?  Yep.  Hear it from the horse’s mouth. Churchill is a criminal, no two ways about it.  You’ll need a user name and password for that last link, BTW; use right-thoughts for the user and right for the password.

In a development that is a shock to no one who voted for Dubya, Egypt is moving toward democracy.  What.  A.  Surprise.  It’s a small step, but it’s a step.

The guy that runs DoDaddy has a blog, and it’s a damn good one.  I was especially struck by this piece, discussing the odd events that happened to him one day while serving in Vietnam.  It’s the kind of story that you remember, even if it didn’t happen to you.

And finally, if you are into the new Battlestar Galactica or you want to see what all the fuss is about, you can see the entire first episode without breakng any copyright laws.  You’ll need Real Player which sucks, or you can try the much nicer and cleaner Real Alternative.

Sorry its been such a crappy week, maybe this post from a frequent lurker/sometimes poster will help a tiny bit ~ loved the piece by Cinnamon.  (What an awesome name!) A large chunk of my family leans radically to the left, and while I love them like crazy, its starting to become an issue.  I don’t like to talk politics with them, because it goes nowhere.  There’s no using logic with them, because in their minds (as far as I can tell), there are no redeeming qualities on the right.

Totally off topic, but something that made my day yesterday ~ I tried a flavor of gelatto that I never had before.  Lavender.  Lavender!!!  It was so delicious.  It was as if somebody took something that I already love and made it edible. Wheee!

Hope the gout goes down, that Donna’s doing better, and that you can find a little something to totally make your day.

Hey guys, sorry to hear this week has been bad for you, hang in there!

Yes, Mark Wilson was a true hero and the community here, along with his family and friends mourn his loss.

KLTV will be broadcasting his memorial today at 1:30.

Myself, I will be at the downtown fountain square to honor a man, a true hero whom I can now only wish I had met.

You may have already tried this; My dad gets gout every school holidays (he is a teacher-so it is somehow stress related in his case) but a good remedy for him seems to be voltaren tablets (ie the same stuff used for freeing up muscle joints-but in pill form).
