Ron Paul loves pork
I’m not a huge fan of Ron Paul, mainly because I think that aside from a few common-sense, small-government platitudes, the man is untenable as a leader. Turns out he’s also a liar and a hypocrite.
400 million dollars in pork requests. I love the line that Erick at Redstate wrote here:
PAGING RON PAUL SUPPORTERS: Please cite the Article, Section, and clause of the Constitution that gives Congress express authority to fund the marketing of wild American shrimp.
Another thing you’ll find at the Redstate page: a link to a PDF filled with 65 pages of Ron Paul requesting federal money for things the federal government has no business being involved in. Some libertarian he is.
And people buy his “I’m a purist” crap?
Not all of us, Erick. Liar, 9/11 truther (as per the comments, I’m changing this) 9/11 Truther sympathizer and panderer, hypocrite and faux Big L libertarian. That’s the real Ron Paul.

He lost me with his truther nonsense. He’s supposed to be a Libertarian, but I have never seen any of this from him ever.
Anyone that says the government had a hand in 9/11 is automatically disqualified from being president. But thats what my corporate masters want me to say.

I have been seeing a LOT of Ron Paul signs and the such here around town and I was like...who the fuck is Ron Paul. NOw I know.
I agree with whomever above said it...anyone who beleives the government had a hand in 9/11 should be IMMEDIATELY disqulaified from being President.
The more research I do on him, the less I like him.

While I admit that Ron Paul hasn’t done enough to distance himself from the loons, he has never said that government had a hand in 9/11. In fact, he rejected the possibility. He has stated that government incompetence might have been a factor in it happening.

Joe’s right, actually.
As nutty as he is (and squirrel turds would be hard pressed to compete.) he has been assigned that troofer label unfairly. He never actually said we had a hand in it.
He did, however imply that the sentiment behind the 9/11 attacks was justified, whichis akin to saying “we had it coming."… but anyone who saw that debate already knows this.
My opposition to labeling him a truther is kinda ideological. I see no good coming from mislabeling people for political gain.
...Especially when you simply don’t have to. I mean, aren’t the insanely ridiculous promises, the blatant racism or this newly discovered hypocrisy more than enough to keep this guy polling at 0.5%?
Why would anyone need to add another batch of C-4 to that political implosion?
This is Ron Freakin’ Paul, for Christ’s sake… the Howard Dean of the GOP.

I don’t know if its unfairly applied to him. He’s essentially done what some democrats have done is when asked about investigating the truth behind 9/11 he panders to them. I’ve seen video of both Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich answer these idiots the correct way. Paul doesn’t do that.

I prefer comparing him to Dennis Kucinich, especially since they seem to be together on several things.

As I understand it, Paul’s take is that if the government takes money unfairly from his constituents, he has a right to ask for it back.
As for us deserving 9-11...if I were feeling captious, I could say that any country that elects Jimmy Carter to the Presidency once, and prefers Bill (the Antichrist’s black-sheep brother; the one the rest of the Antichrist’s family doesn’t talk about) Clinton to good men like Bush 41 and Bob Dole deserves far worse. Not to mention the high probability of Hillary (Dolores Umbridge’s meaner sister) Clinton moving back in at 1600 Pennsylvania…

OK, I’ve re-phrased the truther accusation to better capture what I really wanted to say, as well as reflect the point you guys made here in the comments…
Techno: if he was asking for it back to redistribute evenly among the constituents that paid taxes, then I’d accept that as legitimate.
He’s just buying votes. :)

I’ll buy the updated version, specifically the panderer part. And his feigning of ignorance in the clip I linked is nearly cartoonish. It is so perfectly absurd that it defies parody.

Is someone fishing for loons today? A shotgun would be better :P
