Patriot’s Journey: A closing thought

Happy 4th of July everyone. Here’s my last Patriot’s Journey post for the year:
What makes America great is the people. We’re a motley collection of literally every race, color, creed, sexual orientation, political leaning, social status, financial ability...if you can imagine it in the world, someone is it in America. Our strength is not our ability to be monochromatic and politically correct and all think and act the same. Our strength comes from a spirit of individuality, a sense of self that allows us to form a union of strength based on a shared desire for a safe place to lay our heads.
We can’t allow anyone to kill that individual spirit. Homogenous commercial landscapes are one thing: but true strength comes from individuals pledging their support to a unit. We’re losing that edge in America, but the truth of this great nation is, we can take it back.
We have the power, the will and most of all the legal and right and moral obligation to change the way things work when they’re wrong. It’s something that many countries, even other fully industrialized, westernized nations, don’t always have the freedom to do.
Lady Liberty has given us a gift. Protect it with all your might. If she falls, you’ll never see her like again.
