One of these things is not like the other

I don’t watch commercials.  It’s so very, very rare that any commercial catches my eye enough to make me rewind the TiVo and actually stare at it.  Election season is the worst...although I did catch a couple of Joe Lieberman’s spots.  As soon as he stopped the attack ads, they got pretty good.

Today I had to wait an hour and change while Donna was getting evaluated for some physical therapy, and they had a TV on in the waiting room.  It was the local news.  Oh.  My.  God.  Every break had two to three campaign spots.  Without exception, EVERY Democrat talked about his or her opponent in terms of Bush.  One spot triued to blame Jodi rell for supporting Joe who supports Bush in ONE THING - the war in Iraq.  The spot was actually trying to tie Rell to Bush.  State senate candidates were talking about Bush.  Of course, Lamont was talking about nothing BUT Iraq, because he has no other topics on which he can converse.

I’m pretty sure that the guy running for Hamden town council doesn’t have a lot to do with the White House’s policies.

Conversely, almost every single Republican ad talked about what the candidate has done for Connecticut or wants to do for Connecticut.  I saw one attack ad against a Democrat, I think it was a state House race.

I’m never watching ads again.  I might swear off commercial TV during election season in the future.  Is it this bad everywhere?  Have the Democrats tried to nationalize the local races in your town/city/state?

Yup. Here in New Mexico if it involves a Democrat, their add invariably turns to Bush Bashing.  If the Republican candidate for anything, even district court judge, said anything slightly positive about W. they instantly become a Republican toady. Of course Congresswoman Wilson’s (R) race against Attorney General Madrid (D) has boiled down to Madrid running adds that tie Wilson to Bush almost to the point that you would think that Wilson was a Monica Lewinsky.  Wilson’s adds are all about how bad Madrid would be as Congressman, and her lack of a plan to actually change anything.  But since the district is basically Santa Fe and Taos (pretty much the definition of Liberal Strongholds), it seems to be worken for Madrid.

Sadly all Dems seem to have is Bush bashing.

Kinda makes you wonder what they’ll do in 2009.

One way or another, Bush will not be in office. He will be replaced by someone that isn’t going to give them the standard fallbacks they’ve come to rely on him.

Obviously, if a Democrat is elected President, anything bad in their tenure will be a result of what Bush did during his. But one wonders what they’ll do with a new Republican president?

They’ll have to learn new empty vitriolic attacks, I guess.

/me thinks Republicans would do better if they used Bethany as their spokesperson. Topless.

Rann: imagine if that prez is Giuliani.  They won’t know what to do.

Erik: She’s definitely visually persuasive.  :)

“Giuliani/Rice in 2008. Vote for them or you’re racist.”

Across the border in Detroit Michigan, they’re tying every Republican to Bush. The only thing missing from them I think are red horns coming from Bush

i have yet to see ANY ad that tells me what the candidate on either side of the fence is for.  all i know is the republican isn’t a democrat, and the democrat isn’t bush.

being an independant in a red county who votes for democrats… i’ve been target numero uno this election season.  i’m getting really annoyed.

also, how stupid are the campaign staffs?  do they really need to leave *2* messages on our machine for a candidate?  “hello john, vote for ___” *BEEP* “hello jody, vote for ___”

GAH!

oh yes Jim here in Missouri race for the state house is just as nasty with the Dems finding any way to link their opponent to a Bush policy. Up in Iowa the Dem running fro governor is making hay on Iraq, as if teh republican candidate for governor has any say on a national level.

its sad.

Today im gonna have to choose between Tanet and McKaskil.......................... ACK im not thrilled with talent, and i am not voting for a DEM, well for state Auditor, that woman running for that offices sounds like she got her shit together,

In VA, for weeks all we have seen is XXXX (The R) is G Bush. So and so walks like GWB, so and so was seen shaking hands with GWB etc.

If that is all the Dems have I really hope they lose. A campain that devoid of ideas winning means our country has really gone of the rails!

George W. Bush not only sent us to war in Iraq… George W. Bush… has cooties.

As any intelligent person knows, cooties… are bad.

In January of 2002, Councilman Johnson shook hands with George W. Bush… and became infected with cooties.

Do YOU want someone with cooties on YOUR city council?

I guess it depends on what you mean by attack ad.  I was not at all as impressed by Nancy Johnson as I was by Jodi.  Jodi’s got class.  Nancy traded blows.  And I helped campaign for Nancy way back when…

I think Jodi Rell did a great job taking over from the crook...I was glad to vote for her.
