Nifong Disbarred

It’s only the beginning.

District Attorney Mike Nifong will be disbarred for his disastrous prosecution of three Duke University lacrosse players falsely accused of rape, a disciplinary committee decided Saturday. Even the veteran prosecutor said the punishment was appropriate.

“This matter has been a fiasco. There’s no doubt about it,” said committee chairman F. Lane Williamson.

Nifong sat motionless, one hand resting over his mouth, as Williamson recounted how he engaged in dishonest and deceitful conduct. He said Nifong’s early comments about the case — which included a confident proclamation that he wouldn’t allow Durham to become known for “a bunch of lacrosse players from Duke raping a black girl” — were purposefully designed to boost his campaign for district attorney.

“At the time he was facing a primary, and yes, he was politically naive,” Williamson said. “But we can draw no other conclusion that those initial statements he made were to further his political ambitions.”

I hope those three families sue him and get a huge judgment against him, one that will keep him working for them for the rest of his life.

Nifong made “multiple, egregious mistakes” as he pursued the charges, but not intentionally, his attorney said in closing statements.

“It didn’t click,” Witt said as he tried to explain one of his client’s errors. “His mind is just his mind. That’s the way it works. It just didn’t click.”

Egregious but not intentional?  If that ain’t lawyerspeak I don’t know what is.  Also, how frigging offensive is his “It didn’t click” excuse?  Click with whom, the boys he tried to destroy, the lying whore with semen from five different men on her, none of whom were the defendants, or maybe he means it didn’t click with the bar.  All I know is, if the internet weren’t around, those three men would be in jail right now.

They should thank Al Gore.  :)

So how long till Al Sharpton apologizes for this?

And I do hope those guys sue him into the gutter. He’d deserve it.

I just do not understand his motivation for doing what he did.  WTF makes someone want to destroy the lives of those young men? Have we ever heard some kind of motivation for his incompetent ways?

Just re-election.  Seems he did it just to get re-elected in a primarily black area.

That’s pretty much it. Nifong was facing a very tough battle against his challenger, and he rode the Duke case for all it was worth to get re-elected.

What truly infuriates me about this bozo is the damage he’s done. I wonder how many cases he’s tried that will have to be reviewed? Not to mention the loss of trust in the Durham Police Department, which was evidently working hand-in-glove with him on this frame job.

Thanks a lot, Nifong, you fucking tool. Yeah, you might’ve lost the election if you had taken the high road—but now you’ve not only lost your job, you’ve lost your license and your dignity. Hope it was worth it, you clod.

I’m waiting for them Duke boys to sue.

Nifong and that state will be screwed.

Nifong still states that he thinks “something went wrong in that house and in that bathroom”. Maybe, but most likely not and that feeling is not enough to ruin 3 lives. It really is not. Especially when the evidence coming in showed that these boys had nothing to do with whatever may or may not have happened. Nifong is just....I can’t even put into words what he is. ANd through it all he is so unappologetic. I just don’t get that.

Yeah, because he’s never, ever going to admit that he was absolutely and totally wrong and he had nothing but selfish motivations. People like that are incapable. He’s only ever going to say he made “mistakes”, implying that they were mistakes anyone could have made.
