Narcissism in extremis
There is nothing worse than reading the blog of someone who got a book deal to turn their blog into a book after they get the book deal. Nothing left of what brought you to them in the first place, utter contempt for the readers that got them where they are...it’s just brutal. Just self-referential post after self-referential post.
No names, I’m not interested in starting a blogwar...but it’s so an NYC thing. Infer what you will.

Jim, I remember some time ago when you were actually pushing this guy’s site. I remember visiting it on your recommendation, and I remember, even then, getting the distinct feeling that the guy was more than a little too self-obsessed.
Most of the stories struck me as a bit dubious. Especially those involving certain people with certain connections.
I’m not just mouthing off, here, either. I do have a bit of knowledge on the subject, and the area, under my belt.
Jim, if you’ll check out my account info, seeing my name and where I’m from might give you a little clue as to what I’m talking about.
The point is, if he’s acting like a self-important douche now, it’s not exactly a new condition. I think he’s been living in his own little “club”, occupancy 1, for quite some time already.

nah come on, he has to write about something, can’t give away the best material for free. He mixes in some stories now and then.
The blog has almost become about writing a book instead of the other thing its supposed to be about. I still enjoy it though, and I’ll be buying the book.
I don’t think the book deal changed the person in any way, I think he always showed contempt for the outside world, that’s just the way he is. Its that utter contempt for the people that visit the club that fueled the writing, so why not stay with it?
