Mitt Romney says I am gonna go crazy and kill you all

As you maybe could tell from the front page of this blog, I drink from the popular culture cesspool regularly.  I was reminded yesterday by GamePolitics of another reason Mitt doesn’t do it for me president-wise;

Pornography and violence poison our music and movies and TV and video games. The Virginia Tech shooter, like the Columbine shooters before him, had drunk from this cesspool.

Yes, I do so love when a politician reminds me that no matter how hard it may seem to you and me, creating new classes of people to rail against is easy for them.  Soon “gamers” will be spoken of by the GOP the way “gays” are now.  Just someone new we should all fear...well, someone you should all fear.  I’m one of ‘em.  I’M COMING TO EAT YOUR CHILDREN’S SOULS.  Just as soon as I level up.  And unlock that achievement.  And download the expansion pack.  And upgrade the drivers.  You know what?  To hell with your children, I’ll be busy all week.

Yeah...we’re a threat.  It’s not bad brain chemistry, or bad parenting, or a completely irrelevant mental health system, or bad “privacy” laws that allowed a mentally ill kid to buy guns.  It’s the video games and titties on TV.  This same generation that swore they’d never be like their parents, that Elvis was a great artist, these same idiots are now turning on us and the generations that came after us.

Same as it ever was.  Same. As. It. Ever. Was.

My whole life is about breaking cycles.  I will not do this to kids in 20 years.  I will be busy drinking from the same cesspool, only this time it will be in a vampiric attempt to stay young and relevant.  :)

Of all the issues out there, it sucks this is the one that gets bipartisan support.  The average gamer is what, in their mid 30’s to early 40’s now?  It doesn’t seem like this crap will be politically viable for much longer…

Argh… more pandering to the nutjob wing of the Religious Right. At this point he’s still my candidate of choice because of his business background. I don’t worry to much about bashing video games because every law passed attempting to restrict them has been slammed down hard in the courts. Good old First Amendment and all that. And conservative judges tend to be the most protective about the First.

So, yes it’s stupid, but it’s a tempest in a teapot.

And here’s an interesting question… if push comes to shove (and it may in the next 6 years)… which candidate do you trust most with their finger on “The Button”? McCain? Nah. Guiliani? Probably. Romney? I have my doubts. Obama? Oh fucking please. Hillary? Probably.

SO following the logic here, if I play violent video games, I will become violent and shoot up a school. So shouldn’t that logic be the case for what I read as well? Since I obviously can’t separate fantasy from reality I’m going to become a wizard or I might just read the bible and become GOD and smite these blasphemous stupid fuckers with every weapon I can dream up. “Vengeance is MINE sayeth the lord!”

Right wing nut jobs cannot elect a president on their own.

Left wing nut jobs cannot elect a president on their own.

All one of these assholes has to do is be a moderate, and they just can’t fucking do it. We are so screwed.

My whole life is about breaking cycles.

I’ve only broken one. The chain came loose and got wrapped around the rear spokes. “Bodies in motion tend to stay in motion”, my ass. That bike stopped cold. I was the “body” that kept going.

I spent two-and-a-half weeks in the hospital (and six weeks on convalescent leave), while the bike only suffered a few bent spokes.

So I broke it.

You mean, like this?

Here’s my only question:

If not for Porn or violent movies or video games, how does one survive college?

I may not have.

If not for Porn or violent movies or video games, how does one survive college?

Either A) an irrevocable love of learning for its own sake, accepting advice but never promising to follow it; or, B) large doses of flavored ethanol at regular intervals. (You may substitute “experimentation with imported flora” for this latter option.)

Either will work.

Friends help, too.

Yeah, it strikes me as pandering more than anything. Sad that candidates have to do that, and Romney would have to work extra hard as the Bible thumpers don’t really like dem Mormons. I wonder if the south’s collective head would explode if their choices for president were a black guy/woman and a Mormon?
