Michael Bay makes me killingly angry
“Transformers" director Michael Bay is reviving the “Friday the 13th” franchise through his low-budget production company.
The remake of the original 1980 horror classic, which turned the villainous Jason into a cultural icon, is being produced for New Line Cinema by Bay’s Platinum Dunes banner. Platinum Dunes was also behind the revival of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “The Hitcher.”
In the original “Friday the 13th,” the serial killer made only a brief appearance in the final frames and never killed anyone. Jason didn’t even don the famous mask until the third movie. The remake, however, will focus on Jason—who will wear the mask and kill—and keep the famous setting of Crystal Lake.
Dear Michael Bay,
Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you and fuck you. I fucking hate you and I hope you get a burning, itchy, incurable genital disease that spreads to your face and hurts like getting stabbed. With hot knives. And I hope you have to live with that pain for like, 70 more years. Oh, and fuck you.
Yours,
People sick of remakes, fans of the 13th series, everyone with an appreciation for the Rules.

You know you’ll watch it. You’ll watch it, and LOVE it.
Great, herky jerky action sequences at bad close-up camera angles.

So when is the Wizard of Oz remake coming?
Oh, you KNOW it’s coming soon. I say we’ll have a Wizard of Oz remake by 2012 at the very latest.
Hollywood ran out of ideas a long time ago. What was the last moderately successful original movie that wasn’t a remake or inspired by a novel / comic book? E.T.?

I think you might have missed something, SW…
Or even something else
Not to mention the 2010 project, currently titled ”Oz”…

Michael Bay also thinks he can remake The Birds. If anyone in Hollywood ever has or is trying to remake Hitchcock, they need to be shot dead. Nobody in Hollywood right now could EVER match Hitchcock. The Psycho remake? Practically shot for shot, but it still sucked. Rear Window? Different take, not nearly as good. Any other ones I’m missing that were made by shit filmmakers who idiotically thought they could match one of the best directors of all time?

Sadly it is not.
Director Blomkamp-
“The film is entirely dead. In the configuration it was in. Whatever happens with that movie, assuming that movie gets made, will be a totally different configuration. It’s not so much me as the entire vessel sank. Basically, it was a combination of; there were two studios involved that weren’t getting along in the process of making it, Universal and Fox. That kind of stuff happens, it’s a fragile industry. So the film collapsed at the end of last year, and it’s been dead, ever since then. I’ll be curious to see what happens.”
IMDB needs to update...bad.

my only hope is that with the cost of producing sci fi movies going down thanks to computer animation, we MIGHT get a few of our favorite novels and cartoons made into quality movies by people who care............
wait, who am i kidding…
I want to see some of Larry Niven’s work on the screen, Jerry Pournell, and David Weber’s.

I already knew about “The Wiz.” But, if I remember right, that was a made-for-TV movie, was not it?
And “Wicked” is, at least, a twist on the “Wizard of Oz” story.
I was talking about a big-budge summer blockbuster “The Wizard of Oz” remake. That “Oz” project that Drumwaster linked to is probably it. In any case, I fully expect to see a “Wizard of Oz” remake (complete with explosions) by 2012.

You know, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say “So what if they remake the Wizard of Oz?” You know, there’s an actual chance it might… SHOCK, GASP… be good.
After all, the recent Chronicles of Narnia movie was technically a remake. There have been at least two different productions that tackled the series before. Of course, the actual recently released movie was light years better than they were on every level, from the additional material to the effects to the casting to the acting. Same for the Lord of the Rings and its previous halfhearted attempts at animated adaptations.
The Wizard of Oz is an iconic movie, but it’s an adaptation of a book, and as likely to be readapted as anything else. The new version might just… just possibly, mind you… be good. Even if odds are against it, they’re probably not as against it as you think.
And you know what? If it sucks, it’ll be forgotten. No one will give a shit about it. Just like the recent “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. It was entertaining, but had NONE of the charm, wonder, or lasting quality of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”. Depp’s creepy, heartless Wonka will be relegated to the bargain bin while Wilder’s smiling, enigmatic Wonka will continue to sit on store shelves beneath a “Classics” label.
A crappy remake doesn’t hurt the original, and a good remake is, well, good. Hell, either way the remake will result in them showing the original on TV, both networks and movie channels, for months before its release, and probably a fresh release of it out on DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray.
Just sit back and don’t freak out too bad. It’s neither the end of the world nor the end of entertainment.

I am serious. The one good thing about the original was Gene Wilder.

You know you’ll watch it. You’ll watch it, and LOVE it.
