IT’S A PLAYSTATION, NOT THE SECRET TO ETERNAL LIFE YOU IDIOTS
For the love of God, people, it doesn’t even have sex with you or anything.
Two armed thugs tried to rob a line of people waiting for the new PlayStation 3 game system to go on sale in Putnam early Friday and shot one man who refused to give up his money, authorities said.
About 30 miles away, another shopper was beaten and robbed of his new PlayStation 3 just minutes after he bought it at a store in Manchester, police said.
...
The attacks and robberies in Connecticut appeared to be the most violent.
It was about 3 a.m. when the two gunmen in Putnam, a town of about 9,000 residents in northeast Connecticut, confronted 15 to 20 people standing outside a Wal-Mart store and demanded money, said State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance.
“One of the patrons resisted. That patron was shot,” Vance said.
Vance said the two gunmen fled after shooting Michael Penkala, 21, of Webster, Mass., in the chest and shoulder. Penkala was in stable condition at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., with injuries not believed to be life threatening, Vance said.
Police were searching for the suspects, both believed to be in their teens, Vance said. He said one was wearing a ski mask and brandishing a handgun, and the other had what appeared to be a shotgun.
In the Manchester attack, the shopper told police five men surrounded and beat him as he left the Shoppes at Buckland Hills with the new PlayStation.
That’s right. We roll like that in the CT, bitches. Y’all bettah reck-a-nize. Yo I’ll drop a punk bitch for his Wii, dawg, on the reals. Seriously, what the hell? From all early reports, the XBox 360 is superior in online play, graphics, availability of games and thanks to sales, price. Is it necessary to A: risk your freedom to steal one, or B: risk your life to keep the cash you brought to the store to buy one? It’s a game console, one that will be available for purchase for the next ten years.
I’ll tell you what though: I’d love to see one of these idiots try this armed robbery of a random group of people in a state that wasn’t so full of pacifist pussies. Try that shit in Texas and see if 37 people don’t point guns right back at your sorry criminal ass.

Anotther high mark for the Wii is, as I understand it, that all Gamecube games will still work. PS3 and 360 have a lot of games that are not backwards compatible.

I’m pretty sure PS3 is not backwards compatible at all. At least not the disks (you can download the software to the hard drive… for a price).
Regardless of everything else, I’d still say the 360 is the best system. If they were cars, the PS3 would be some rice burner import tuner bullshit (what with it’s “cellular” processor). The 360 would be a Hemi ‘Cuda or somthing, just going with sheer muscle from a triple-core processor.
Most importantly though, the 360 has the best games right now. Oblivion was amazing. Dead Rising isn’t a great sitdown game, but it’s awesome at parties. And, this system has TWO killer apps: The obvious Halo 3 (even though it’s not out till next year), and the just-released Gears of War, which is simply amazing, and possibly better than Halo.
Also, the XboxLive service is worth every penny. I hear a lot of bitching about multiplayer, but it seems just as stable as pc-based multiplayer. And the downloadable content reall takes the cake. Besides all sorts of little clips and movie trailers, you can download game demos directly to your hard drive. I can’t begin to tell you how awesome this is. Getting demo’s for console games used to be a total bitch. Now if I want to try a particular game, I go and download a demo right from my chair. In addition to all this smancyness, the way it handles music during a game is a huge step up. I’ve got all my gaming music on the hardrive, and at any point in any game, I can press a button to go into my music folder and select a song or playlist. Awesome. The Linkin Park EP with JayZ is a favorite of mine while playing football :)
If you’re looking at getting a nextgen console, do yourself a favor and get a 360. It’s cheaper, and it’s better.

Haaahahaaahahahahahahaha Nintendo making a superior graphics console. XD Hoooooboy. Oh wow. Ha. That’d be quite the coup, if true. Heeeee.
PS3 is most likely going to have a broader range of games and all. Sure, the 360 has more titles… it’s been out about half a year. By many accounts, most of the launch 360s have already died. The console, she is not sturdy.
Sure, the first next-gen console I intend to buy is a 360, once they’ve had some time to quietly work out the bugs they won’t admit are there.
But in the end, no console is really “better” than the others. You can make comparisons between the bare-bones rendering power all you like, but saying the Microsoft system will be better just because they shoved higher-end electronics in there is like saying that all you have to do to become a master painter is buy the most expensive paint set.
The Playstation will have developers who know Sony, are comfortable with it, and will produce games tailored to it. Microsoft will have its exclusive deals. Nintendo will have the three series everybody loves, Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. They all have their own draws, and frankly I’d rather not see the Console Wars start leaking into this blog, or anywhere else I go regularly.

I hear Gears of War is *the* shit. It’s literally the reason I keep thinking a 360 should be my Xmas wish.

I didn’t say they were going to be superior in graphics. They do have more games available at release though. And the system price actually means you can afford the games as well. And graphics are nice to a point, but there are games with amazing graphics that completely suck in gameplay.

From what I’ve heard, most the problems with 360s breaking involve putting heavy this on top of the console like a fucking moron. Even a little weight, like a stack of game cases, can mess with it. While the console should perhaps be more sturdy then that, it’s nothing a little common sense can’t fix.
And Jim, it is. It might be the most fun I’ve had with a game in years. Probably since a game called Pacific Theater of Operations 2 on the SNES. That game let me design a battle carrier that could carry a full wing of aircraft, 12 22” guns, torpedoes and depth charges, the largest armor, and the fastest engine. Granted, I protracted the war in the Pacific until 1950 just so I could use them… but man that was awesome. Anyway, yeah gears of war… incredible gameplay mechanics… and a gun with a fucking chainsaw mounted on it.

Shooters are going to be a lot of fun on the Wii. One of the things I really hate about halo on my Xbox is that the analog sticks are really hard to aim with. There really wasn’t many games that I was interested in with Xbox either.
To me the innovation that the Wii introduces is much more interesting than the graphics that the PS3 and 360 bring to the table.

In my wee lil town in New Mexico, the Wal-mart here got 18 of them, and had people lined up at 9 am to get them. They sat there for more than 12 hours. Idiots. Don’t they have a Senator like Edwards to get them one?
OH, btw...Sen. Edwards says that it was “a mistake made by a young staffer”. Its always the youts, i tell ya.

The only way I’d buy an Xbox 360 is if it was cracked and I could run XBMC on it. That’s all I use my current Xbox for.

Sullivan County Prosecutor Bob Springer said he plans to charge Moss and accomplice Dustin Fagg, 19, with felony robbery.
I would pretty much hate my parents if my last name was Fagg.

Xbox is good for only three types of games: racing, sports, and shooters. Nintendo is good for kid and family friendly games. Playstation is about everything under the sun.
The success of the PS2 is in the size of its library. XBOX had the internal hardrive, XBOX live, and more powerful system working for it, but it couldn’t top PS2 because the only exclusive title that really mattered on the XBOX was HALO. That is one franchise compared to Sony’s Metal Gear, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Silent Hill, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur, DDR, and up to now, Grand Theft Auto and Guitar Hero.
Not only did 360 make the internal hard drive optional (and so developers have to cater to systems without it), but only a fraction of original XBOX games can be played on the 360 (and only WITH the hard drive).
If I recall correctly, the PS3 will play all PS2 titles, as well as 80% of PS1 titles. There will be a cable available for purchase so that you can transfer your PS2 and PS1 memory card saves onto the PS3 hard drive, and then the system will create phantom memory cards so that you can save your PS2 and PS1 games saves onto the hard drive itself. And besides the BluRay drive allowing games to take advantage of the 50Gb disc space and HDMI support for 1080p resolution, the thing will also play the new BluRay DVDs, while an additional $200 external drive needs to be purchased in order to watch HD-DVD movies through a 360.
The Nintendo Wii is essentially a powered up Game Cube. It will play all the GC games (with ports on top to plug in GC controllers and memory cards) as well as have the ablility to download NES, SNES, Genesis, and N64 titles for a price of $5-$10 a game through its Virtual Console. The focus of the Wii is not the graphics but the gameplay. The motion sensitive remotes allow for greater interactivity and intuitive game play.
I have a PS2 which I play regularly, a Game Cube I play occasionaly, and an XBOX that collects dust. That is why I have no intent on buying a 360, but will pick up a PS3 and Wii.

I eventually plan to get all three systems. I love my 360. It’s probably the best console to get if you like shooting games (and I do like shooting games). I’ll probably get a Wii next, mostly for Nintendo’s First and Second party games like Zelda, Mario, and Metroid. I’ll get a PS3 last. Probably when I’m able to get one for less than $400. Aside from Shooters, my other favorite genre of gaming is J-RPGs, so having a PS3 is a must

I’ll admit that I have several games that factor into my intent to get a 360 first. The Dead or Alive series (so sue me), and a game that’s not even absolutely sure to happen yet, Knights of the Old Republic 3. The original KotOR is why I bought my XBox, and I’ve played it and its sequel so much that I think they alone were probably worth the money.

Im not sure if Kotor 3 is in the works or not. I think BioWare may be working on another Jade Empire game first. Not that theres anything wrong with that.
If you haven’t played it, and need something to satiate the need for KotOR, check Jade Empire out. Basically the same game, a couple differences… but basically just as fun.

Jade Empire was okay. It was obvious they tried to do something different with Closed Fist and Open Hand, and to make it not quite as black and white as Dark Side and Light Side. Unfortunately, they fumbled on that one, and it wound up being “If you do bad things you’re Closed Fist, if you do good things you’re Open Hand.”, even down to the KotOR-esque “Choose once and for all which path you’ll take.” decision, which put you either Closed Fist or Open Hand no matter what.

And the Wii is going to be superior in price and games as well as availability.
