In case anyone sees this *UPDATED*

*UPDATED*

Well, as you can see, it’s back.  Took some doing...new hard drive, brand new fresh OS, upgraded with the latest security patches, etc.  New version of the back-end control panel too.

We had to do all that because the 2nd tier tech I finally got on my case determined that there HAD to be a rootkit on the old hard drive, and that JT was likely in there messing things up as we were fixing them.  Nothing else made any sense.  There was a sad little DOS attempt but it was all http connections, and placing it behind their Cisco Guard firewall took care of that.  The other issue was someone was running MySQL processes until it tried to use well over 100% of the CPU.  Every time we shut something down, it would happen again.  With some rootkits you can’t see log activity or see the user logged in.  This fix effectively shuts out anyone who had old passwords to any of this stuff.

We are now live!  For a full explanation of who JT Thompson is and what the hell this post is talking about, please see The whole sordid story, or How I learned to hate E-Places.net

-----

Someone (gee, I wonder who, the pussy that he is) is flooding the server with mysql connections and effectively DOSing us.  Working on it!  I have gotten it to the point where the site will load, but maybe VERY slowly.

Your patience is appreciated.

I sent you an email asking if there was something wrong or if it was on my end. I had a sneaky suspicion a worm, er I meant asshole was at work.

I really, really, really hope you don’t allow anyone to connect to MySQL remotely… That’s what VPNs are for…
