I hope Neil Young will remember
Intelligent man don’t need him around anyhow.
Demme, who filmed the award-winning documentary Neil Young: Heart of Gold, writes in an e-mail, “Neil just finished writing and recording – with no warning – a new album called Living With War. It all happened in three days.” How rock ‘n ‘roll is that?
Demme continues, “It is a brilliant electric assault, accompanied by a 100-voice choir, on Bush and the war in Iraq…Truly mind blowing. Will be in stores soon.”
Details are pretty scarce, but the featured track, titled “Impeach the President,” includes a rap with Bush’s voice set to the choir chanting “flip/flop” and the like.
I’m quite sure this is going to suck horribly, as most of these kinds of songs and albums do these days. I’m further convinced by the common-sense thought that any album written and recorded in three days has almost no chance of being listenable. Oh, it’ll sell regardless of how bad it is. The Bushitler crowd will stroke anyone who talks bad about Chimpy McHitlerburton. The rest of us? We’ll be saying this:

Regardless of Neil Young’s politics, his music has ALWAYS sucked… he was mediocre at best when he was at the top of his game

Agreed. If I wanted rock n’ roll, I’d listen to someone who understands it better… like Weird Al.
If I just wanted passionate but stupid moaning and whining, I’d stick with Jenna Jameson. At least she doesn’t have a face like an 8-month-old pork chop.

Hey, now… Ain’t NObody disses Al and gets away wth it… Al is a musical GENius.
Neil Young is a derivative hack whose glory days ended when CSNY split up.
Anyone remember that waste of vinyl, “This Note’s For You”? He managed to piss off every single corporate sponsor of every major singing venue in the country, and then he wonders why he ended up playing in C&W;bars where they have to put up the chicken wire to keep the band from getting hurt by the thrown bottles…
Lucky there’s a war on for him to protest or he wouldn’t be getting any press at all.

Good call Drum.
The irony is, as has been said, “delicious” ... to hear the war protesters ranting and raving that the war is fought “for profit” but they don’t mind profiting off it themselves one bit.
Hypocrites!

Yeah, I saw that at one of the rallies against corporate profit (aka “war"), several people had T-shirt and book/pamphlet sales stands up, and each was doing a brisk business.
I remember also hearing an interview of one of the Black Panthers, where he was talking about needing to raise funds for one thing or another, so he and another guy went to some bookstore in Frisco that sold Mao’s Little Red Book. They bought out the entire stock (at about 25 cents each), then hauled them all to Berkeley and sold them for a buck apiece.
Which action is entirely antithetical to the thesis contained therein, goes without saying…

Wow I could make a 75 cent profit on Mao’s Little Red Book? Got to love capitalism, and irony.

The only difference between the KKK and the Black Panthers is PR.

the sales will stay at rock biottom, Neil will be giving the CD’s away at protest rallies…
what a tool.
