Hoisted on his own petard
Damn, this is awful, right?
“All across this country, John and I saw a separate and unequal school system in America 50 years after Brown vs. Board of Education. That’s unacceptable,” Kerry said in reference to the Supreme Court ruling that outlawed school segregation.
“We’ve got more African Americans in jail than we do in college. That’s unacceptable,” he added.
I AGREE!
What do you mean it’s completely untrue?
How could it be untrue? Kerry wouldn’t lie. He’s the Honesty CandidateTM.
Really? Almost three times as many in college as in prison? How could Kerry be that far off in his numbers? I could under stand a few hundred thousand here or there, but to throw out a statement like that and have it be SO inaccurate to the point of ridiculousness...why?
Oh...he said it to a bunch of potential black voters. Got it. It’s OK to lie to black people if you think you can get them to vote for you. And you can convince Jesse to repeat your lie.

I hope so, because this one is a little more than just a mix-up in math. It seems to me to be BLATANT pandering to the black vote. And with a completely false stat to boot.

Jim, where did he mention the “three times as many” statistic? He said that there were more in jail than in college. Nothing about by what factor.

Sorry, I’ve just read the rest of the links and understood what you are saying. Im wrong and Kerry is in fact lying. What a surprise. Sorry.

An error is only inexcusable if you refuse to acknowledge it, Jonny. No harm done, and props to you for recognizing it.
Kerry, on the other hand…

I posted a question on the JohnKerry forums to see if anyone has other statistical backup for the claim.
