He’s a one man band, in his own right, Jam-Master jams to the broad daylight

If you grew up in the past 25 years, then you likely know at least one Run-DMC song.  I grew up listening to Run-DMC and Led Zeppelin on the same mix tape.

Well...someone shot Jam Master Jay. In the head.  And it makes me sad.

Not only did they help pioneer the rap genre, they pioneered the rap & roll movement as well.  It’s been bastardized and destroyed, but at one point it was innovative.

The thing that pisses me off in the story I linked comes from Chuck D., another rap pioneer:

Chuck D, the founder of the rap group Public Enemy, blamed record companies and the advertising industry for perpetuating “a climate of violence” in the rap industry. “When it comes to us, we’re disposable commodities,” he said.

WHat?

The *advertising* industry is responsible for putting the gun in some asshole’s hand, pointing at Jay’s head and pulling the trigger?  Chuck D., you have officially joined the ranks of the complete lunatics, and everything you say from this point forward is suspect.

Jay, real name Jason Mizell, was married with three kids.  They’ll never see it, but I give my condolences to the Mizell family.

The difference between Jam Master Jay and someone like Tupac Shakur or Biggie Smalls is that JMJ didn’t subscribe to all this gansta shit.  Tupac and Biggie lived by the sword and they died by it, so it’s kinda hard to feel sorry for their deaths.  Jay was by all reports a true good guy, and what happened to him is truly a tragedy.

I have a sneaking suspicion they were going after someone else and he got in the way.\r

Gangstas think gunplay and violence makes you a man.  Unfortunately, this translates to the Left believing ANYONE with a gun thinks this way.  Fucking assholes.
