Excellent bargains for your ears
If you’re looking for good earbuds for a portable music player and you want a bargain, check these out.
Buy.com, today only, has the Sony MDR-EX71SL’s for just $27.99. I own these, and they are hands-down the best you’ll find under $50. A bit bass-heavy, however I found that with the right EQ setting on my iPod, that went away. Plus there are mods you can do to further improve the sound and make them sound like they cost twice the price, if you are so inclined.* I recommend these to anyone looking to replace the crappy buds that usually come with every CD player, Walkman and MP3 player.
Another bargain that is hard to pass up if you have an iPod mini is from PCMicroStore. The Kroo mini iPod Cool White Silicone Skin case...decent protection from scratches, a neutral color and just $4.99. You’d pay more than that in shipping from anywhere else.
I wasn’t really going to get a case for my mini since I plan to use it mostly in the waterproof case when I’m excercising in the pool, but for five bucks, I may as well. I am using the mini more than the full-sized ipod in the car, this may come in handy there. My car is much like my desk: full of crap and sharp things designed to scratch anything that can be scratched.
BTW, you can get it shipped via US mail for a buck. How cheap is that?
* The mods are actually very simple. There are three tiny air holes on the back of the buds in the silver part. If you cover them with a tiny piece of tape (I used a tiny piece of aluminum tape, it looks like it is part of the design), then less air is moved by the tiny drivers, thus lessening the bass response. One other mod that allows the midrange to reach your ears more easily is to remove the little rubber tips. You’ll see a little paper circle that covers the hole where the music comes out. Use a needle and poke a hole in the center. work it around until the hole is barely big enough to put the tip of a Bic pen in. That usually satisfies most. I removed the circle entirely on mine. They sound quite amazing for the price.

I guess I kind of understand it now, it’s a private network. I just don’t understand what it is that makes it 1,000 times faster than Broadband like they are saying.

I have a technology question for you. Have you heard of this new internet2? Apparently it’s a hell of a lot faster, but only available to non profit institutions and universities?
internet2
I guess I was just wondering how it’s possible? Maybe I just need to read up about the basic building blocks of the internet,
