Dog Chapman will likely not rot in a Mexican jail
Dog Chapman is almost a free man.
All criminal charges may have been dropped in Mexico against TV bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman, his son and another member of his crew for capturing a convicted American rapist on the lam four years ago, TMZ reported Thursday.
A Mexican federal court had charged Chapman, 53, and the others with deprivation of liberty for seizing Andrew Luster, an heir to the Max Factor cosmetics fortune, in June 2003 in Puerto Vallarta.
A&E’s Dog site is reporting this as well.
Earlier this week the First Criminal Court in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico dismissed all criminal charges pending against Dog, Tim and Leland Chapman on the grounds that the statute of limitations had expired. The order effectively cancelled all pending charges.
They add that charges may be re-filed if the prosecution appeals by August 8 and wins the appeal. It’s almost over, and good. Dog did a great thing getting Andrew Luster off the streets, and he shouldn’t have to rot in a Mexican hell hole for it.
Call me crazy, but doesn’t it feel like some back room deal was cut? I wonder what we had to give up in order to get the authorities to dismiss the charges.

I’m of the opinion that we may have finally found the explanation for all of those politicians pushing so hard for that last Amnesty Bill attempt.
("Well, Seen-yore Prezidentay, you want us to sell to tha Murrkin public that we ought to let all them Messkin lawbreakers just get away with it because they’ll be racists if they don’t? And you’ll cut Chapman loose? Deal. Shake on it, ‘migo...")
‘Cause NOBODY leaves the Dawg hangin’…

This brings to mind a case from here in AZ. There was a Mexican national (my nice way of saying illegal) who killed three people (his ex-wife/girlfriends mom, dad and brother I believe) then stole the kids and ran off to Mexico.
They found him and sent the kids back to the US with mommy (who BTW was also here illegally but now gets to stay). He was arrested and the only way Mexico would agree to extradite him back to the US was if 1) There was no death penalty option for him, and 2) no life in jail without the possiblity of parole.
SO this man killed three people and kidnapped children and the most he can get is life with the possibility of parole....lucky man.
My question though is...what can Mexico do if we renig on the deal? Give the man life or sentacne him to death? What could they do?
Dog did a good thing and i am happy that he is not going to jail for it. To bad Mexico does not feel the same way about a horrible murderer from thier country.

Not go to Mexico and embarrass the federalies or the FBI again?
