Democrats tell tipsters “No protection for you. Come back one year.”
What the hell is wrong with the Democrats?
Congressional Democrats yesterday declined to protect tipsters who report suspicious behavior from nuisance lawsuits.
“This is a slap in the face of good citizens who do their patriotic duty and come forward, and it caves in to radical Islamists,” said Rep. Peter T. King, New York Republican and ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee.
Republicans tried to write the protection provision included in final homeland security legislation, crafted yesterday by a House and Senate conference committee, to implement final recommendations from the September 11 commission.
Mr. King and Rep. Steve Pearce, New Mexico Republican, sponsored the provision after a group of Muslim imams filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against US Airways and unknown “John Doe” passengers. The imams were removed from US Airways Flight 300 on Nov. 20 after fellow passengers on the Minneapolis-to-Phoenix flight complained about the imams’ suspicious behavior.
On March 27, the House approved the “John Doe” amendment on a 304-121 vote.
“Democrats are trying to find any technical excuse to keep immunity out of the language of the bill to protect citizens, who in good faith, report suspicious activity to police or law enforcement,” Mr. King said. “I don’t see how you can have a homeland security bill without protecting people who come forward to report suspicious activity.”
What the hell is wrong with these “people” elected to Congress? I’m simply dumbstruck. I thought all that education and business sense they’re all supposed to have made them, you know, smarter. What the hell? The Democrats defeated this tipster shield provision *only* because Republicans wanted it. Nothing more, nothing less. And now everyone will be afraid to speak up if they see something suspicious for fear of losing their house in a lawsuit.
This race to the bottom that Dems and Repubs are engaged in is literally destroying this country, atom by atom. It will take a long, long time, but it will happen, if we keep allowing these idiots to do whatever they want, whenever they want, and opposing every good idea that comes along just because the other side suggested it.
I swear to God apes throwing feces at decision boards could run this country better.

You see it’s a mat, with a bunch of conclusions on it, that you can jump to.
Office Space is one of the few films that you can use to build a life philosophy. Much wisdom contained therein. ;)

Ya, but where’s Milton when we need him to burn the whole place down?
When I heard the Dems where going after this, I wasn’t supprised. The Republicans could introduce a bill that says everyone gets a free ice cream, and the Dems would vote it down just because some people are Lactose intolernent. If someone with a (R) at the end of their name was for sunshine, (D)s would be for darkness.
UGH
My favorite line is “Well Bob, I don’t think I’ve actually been missing the work”.

You want to know what’s funny?
Title 18 U.S.C. § 4 (misprision of felony). Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined not more than $500 or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
If the Dems have their way, anyone who has knowledge of a pending attack is jailed if he doesn’t tell someone, but is open to civil liability if he does.
Okay, so it’s not all that funny…
Thank God we have a member of a former terrorist organization serving in the Senate…

You know for as much as I dislike most Republicans, they at least seem to not have an as intense a dislike for the citizenry as the Democrats do.
Though I can be happy that both of North Dakota’s Democrat senators, Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan, both voted in favor of it. One of the few times they ever did the right thing.

“As you can see, buying lottery tickets is proving to be a poor business plan...”
As Lee said in a post of his own… this country seems to need a revolution or something. A country this great deserves better than a government this… this fucktarded.

I’m forging into waters in which I’m relatively ignorant of, but nonetheless, here’s my take, and feel free to correct me: since the Democrat’s takeover of Congress, the Republican’s minority (if you can call it that) have announced their intention to filibuster nearly every piece of legislation introduced by the Dem’s, essentially shutting them down, given their insignificant majority.
Given that state of affairs, it is not entirely unreasonable that they would decide to respond in kind. Incredibly stupid, in this case, but given the blatant incompetence of the Democrat ruling class, not “unreasonable” by any means.
My interpretation, as uninformed as it is.

Never mind that this was also the Dems tactic for the last half-dozen years, including judicial and ambassadorial appointments.
Time used to be when you get a piece of legislation passed in the Senate with just a simple majority of 51 votes. Now you have to come up with 60 votes just to get it to the floor.
I’m of the opinion that the more impediments to legislation, the better, but we ARE in the middle of a shooting war…

Apes throwing feces at each other is pretty much how I see the House and Senate operating anyway. How pathetic. We as a country deserve and damn well better demand better.
When the government is outlawed, only us outlaws will have guns and we’ll make the fucking rules. Border thing, done, thin out the lawyers, throw every current and past politician in jail, destroy collective bargaining and end corporate, private and ag welfare.

Rome didn’t fall overnight. It took seven hundred years to reach the pinnacle of its power, and several hundred more to collapse into theocracy and the Dark Ages, with its concomitant loss of technology and fragmentation of the government - from global Empire to local fiefdom.
Their military didn’t lose any wars, either. When the barbarians invaded, the failure to adequately respond in defense was because of petty internal bickering.
Gosh, that sounds familiar…

What they need is a jump to conclusion mat.
