Coffee pod(s) of the day - Gourmet Café Estate Costa Rican
Yesterday I said I would do the Kenya AA as well, but I’m just sticking to the Estate Costa Rican...because it was good.
You can get this from a couple of different companies...I’ve had Estate Costa Rican from Java One in a medium roast and from Gourmet Café in a dark roast. I prefer the Gourmet Café version, but then I prefer darker roasts almost all the time.
The pods themselves are made well, but are made from some of the thinnest filter material around. I found this to be a good thing, because I tried both pre-moistening and not bothering at all, and the cups of coffee produced tasted exactly the same. It’s a slightly sweet but slightly bright flavor with some woody undertones (I know, it’s like describing wine!). You can taste the roast, but it’s never burnt or bitter. It’s a good morning coffee, but also a great middle-of-the-day cup of coffee. It’s got what I would call medium body and medium mouthfeel. Highly recommended!
