Chili-finger couple goes down…

Considering how much I blogged about this...figured I better drop this update

A couple who planted a severed finger in a bowl of Wendy’s chili in a scheme to extort money from the fast-food chain were sentenced Wednesday to prison terms of at least nine years.

Anna Ayala, 40, who said she bit into the digit, was sentenced to nine years. Her husband, Jaime Plascencia, 44, who obtained the finger from a co-worker who lost it in a workplace accident, was sentenced to more than 12 years.

Ha.  They’ll be going down for quite some time.  Good.

Don’t those sentances seem the wrong way round? Either way, its good they are getting such a big sentance. It’s a shame they are in no position to compensate Wendy’s.

They could always be forced to work at Wendy’s.

I think that because he actually procured the finger...that’s why his sentence was longer.

I love that they are bound by the judge to pay the company back, but the company agreed to not collect unless this couple tries to profit from the story.  Perfect.  They have a juicy, tabloid-like story they could sell for a pile of cash and can never capitalize on it.  Now that’s good justice right there.  :)

Yeah, that is really clever - I didn’t know they could do that sort of thing. I can think of a few cases in the UK when that sort of legal setup would be good.
