Aerophagia sounds like an episode of The X-Files
I just woke up after two hours of BiPAP-assisted sleep with a stomach so bloated Sally Struthers was shooting a documentary about me for Christian Children’s Fund and taunting me with half of a reuben sandwich. I was confused, I thought for a second I had signed up for a home study heating and air conditioning certificate and she was my instructor. I mean, what could she possibly know about a Trane XL90 with a bad circulator?
Apparently if your pressure is too high or the mask isn’t quite right or you need a different kind of mask or, and this is rare, you forgot to sacrifice a bull before going to bed, you can get this aerophagia, which is basically just swallowing air. It comes out both ends if you swallow enough of it. I certainly had.
The messed up part is, I feel more rested after two lousy hours of sleep than I did after 9 hours last night without the mask. I know this is going to work, I just have to fine-tune the system. I’m thinking of one of these or one of these if the problems with the nasal mask continue.
Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go re-strap into my mask. Those enemy MIGs aren’t going to shoot themselves down you know.
