Food For Oil - We need to know more

I did some math.

The number that was bandied around prior to the Iraq war was 500,000.  A half-million children dead from the embargoes on Iraq.  And of course, that was all our fault.  Even though it was a UN embargo.

Shh.  No logic.  Don’t try to make sense of it.

Anyway, I looked up some numbers fro the population and birth rates in iraq.  I did ROUGH math, taking into account the 2+ percent per year growth.  I rounded *down* whenever possible to be as accurate (or rather, fair) as rough numbers would allow.

The result is represented in this photo:

WHERE IS THE NEWS COVERAGE?

This is enlightening. That site graphically represents the aggregation of the 7,000+ news sites that contribute to Google News.  It’s a really cool link, BTW.

Do you see any mention of the UN Oil-For-Food scandal?  I have been looking for three days.  Just wondering why this mess, which directly contributed to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis under the guise of allowing embargoed food and medicine into Iraq.

All they did was pocket the cash, and Saddam pocketd the cash on his end, and the Iraqis just died.  And when we tried to pressure the UN to do something before the war...they balked.

Yeah, wonder why.

So now we have to dig deep just to get a mention of the story.  And the UN is trying to cover it up.

But let’s all bitch and complain and accuse every member of the military of being equally responsible for the assaults at Abu Garaib.  Let’s insult the 99.95% of the soldiers that are doing their jobs with honor and dignity.  Let’s call for Rumsfeld to be fired.  Because billions in scammed money and hundreds of thousands of dead bodies...that’s completely unimportant, because *Bush* didn’t do it.

Faux moral equivalancy is really starting to piss me off.

We wouldn’t want to hurt the terrorists’ feelings

Brad Schuyler at Neoflux has a good post about the media coddling terrorists by not using the word “terrorist.”

It’s all so silly.  When you terrorize the populace, you’re a terrorist.  Seems easy to me.
