alt.spammers.dead.dead.dead

A little over a month ago, I mentioned the Bad Behavior plugin and the fact that I recently installed it here in the site.  Since the day I installed it, approximately 35 days ago, Bad Behavior has stopped 226,937 attempts at comment or trackback spam.  In the first week, something like three attempts got through.  Since then?  Not one.  Not a single spammer has been able to penetrate the multiple layers of defense currently in place here, including Bad Behavior.

226,937 attempts.  6484 attempts per day.  270 attempts an hour.  Imagine what big sites must deal with?  All for some Google juice that doesn’t last more than a day or three until Google catches them.

The number one reason why Edwards isn’t qualified to be President

So maybe you know about Amanda Marcotte, maybe you don’t.  I’ll try to give you the short version.

Amanda blogs at a far-left blog named Pandagon.  She’s hateful, mean, and completely devoted not to equality, but to female supremacy at the cost of everything else.  She’s foul-mouthed (not that I personally hold that against her!) and simply an awful human being.  If you want to learn more about her, I suggest reading this post, this post and this post over at Michelle Malkin’s - and you know my record with Malkin, so please trust that I think Malkin and the people to whom she links are pretty accurately representing Amanda.

Anyhoo...Edwards hired her to be his official campaign blogger.  Huge mistake.  Amanda started cleaning the Pandagon archives of her most heinous statements, like my favorite, her statement about the Duke rape case, made long after the rest of the world realized that both the “victim” and the prosecutor were lying their individual and collective asses off:

In the meantime, I’ve been sort of casually listening to CNN blaring throughout the waiting area and good fucking god is that channel pure evil. For awhile, I had to listen to how the poor dear lacrosse players at Duke are being persecuted just because they held someone down and fucked her against her will—not rape, of course, because the charges have been thrown out.

Can’t a few white boys sexually assault a black woman anymore without people getting all wound up about it?

So unfair.

Yes, how dare a rape victim act confused and bewildered like she was raped or something.

Natalia, do you know the details of the case? If so, why do you think a women enthusiastically jumped into a sexual situation with men making slavery jokes at her? Furthermore, what is your theory on why she supposedly looooooved having sex with guys holding her facedown on the bathroom floor? There’s no “if” they behaved in a disrespectful manner. We have conclusive evidence that happened.

So there you have it, that’s Amanda.  Horrible judgment on John Edwards’ part to hire someone like that.  Word has come down today from Salon that she may be fired, which would be the first smart thing Edwards has done in quite a few years.  No one can confirm it though.

Phew!  All that was simply so I could post this, from Ace’s:

You may report that your sources in the Beltway media establishment are getting pretty f#$&#xin;g tired of waiting for the patriarchy at the John Edwards campaign to issue a statement making the oppression of Amanda Marcotte and Melissa McEwan an official matter of public record.

Nearly 7 hours after the Salon report, and still no confirmation.

If Edwards can be frozen into inaction by the threat of a Chris Bowers Important Action Alert (TM), is Edwards really ready to be Leader of the Free F#%&ing World?

Snark aside, that’s a good point: The Shiny Pony wants us to believe he can stare down Ahmadinejad, and he can’t even manage to handle Amanda Friggin’ Marcotte?

And that, ladies & germs, is why John Edwards is wholly unqualified to do anything except brush his beautiful, flowing hair.  A story like this has his staff - and therefore to the rest of the world, him - frozen and incompetent.  If you are a Democrat, I am quite sure you've felt Bush has been that way from time to time, no?  Frozen with indecision, unable to cope with the realitiues of the job?  If so, I put it to you that at least Bush freezes when big things happen.  Terrorist attacks.  War.  The destruction of an American city.

The Edwards machine has been frozen all day over finding out that the campaign blogger they hired is a little bundle of hate and bile.  They can't get in front of this story?  John Edwards is dead as a candidate.  He can’t handle anything.  Barack would slap the piss out of him in a debate, and Hillary wouldn’t even give him the time of day, he’s out of her league completely.  He’s an empty suit and a great head of hair.  He cannot handle the events of today.  How do you think he would handle, say, a small nuclear attack in an American city?

He wouldn’t call Jack Bauer, that’s for sure.  My guess is, his first call would be to Vidal Sassoon.

Say goodbye to the Breck Girl.  The right will make sure the moderates know what a weeny he really is, and the nutroots will despise him for turning on one of their own.  He’s done.

Court orders Apple to stop being the evil corporate bullies they really are

Ha-ha!

In a landmark ruling in favor of bloggers and cyber journalists, a Santa Clara County Court defended the First Amendment rights of online journalists to protect their confidential sources, effectively giving web journalists the same protections afforded to traditional print journalists.

Apple Inc., had issued subpoenas to online tech journalists, including the publisher of AppleInsider.com and PowerPage.org, over reports the company claimed “violated California state trade secret law” which divulged so-called confidential information about not-yet released Apple products. Apple claimed the journalists were not entitled to First Amendment protections similar to those afforded to their print counterparts.

However, a California court disagreed, ruling against Apple and in favor of the defendants, who were represented by legal counsel from The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). Apple was ordered to pay all legal costs associated with the defense, including a 2.2 times multiplier of the actual fees, bringing the total to about $700,000.

The ruling was hailed by web journalists and EFF staff members as a legal victory in the battle to defend and protect the rights of online journalists.

Kasper Jade, publisher of AppleInsider.com, one of the defendants in the case, said, “The court’s ruling is a victory for journalists of all mediums and a tremendous blow to those firms that believe their stature affords them the right to silence the media. Hopefully, Apple will think twice the next time it considers a campaign to bully the little guy into submission.”

The ruling was hailed by web journalists and EFF staff members as a legal victory in the battle to defend and protect the rights of online journalists.

Not much else to say except this:  Fuck.  You.  Apple.

A soldier needs tunes, man!

Check this out.  It’s one of those things I really like to get involved with, as I know the people involved and I know that anything I give goes right directly to the person who needs it.

As most of you know, our resident Marine and Iraq War veteran Rick F. is about to head back to Iraq for his third (yes, third) tour.  He’s part of the surge.  He mentioned to me the other day that he’d like to take some CDs over there to give everyone something new to listen to, and I came up with an idea.

If you have an iTunes account, and would like to donate money to let Rick download music, you can send him a gift certificate.  Follow these steps.

1) Launch iTunes.  On the main screen, look in the top right corner in the Quick Links section.  In there you will see Buy iTunes Gifts.  Click it.

2) On the page that comes up are your options.  Scroll down a little and you will see Email Gift Certificates.  Click Buy Now.

3) The next page you see is the form.  Fill it out with your name, the amount you wish to send, and a message if you choose.  Where it asks for Recipient’s Email use the following address:

rstfehr6 at juno dot com

Just replace the “at” and the “dot” with the proper symbols.  if you don’t have iTunes, Lee has a way to Paypal some green Rick’s way.  Rick’s going for his third tour in the sandbox, and if all he’s asking for are some tunes, then hell...I can do that.  So can you.

Duke rape case: fraud from beginning to end

Not like it’s any surprise to people that read blogs - I think almost everyone on the interwebs knew Nifong was running game.  The stripper was obviously lying from the word go.  Now the North Carolina Bar Association is laying the smack down.

In a stunning rebuke to the North Carolina district attorney handling the Duke University rape case, the state bar today filed an ethics complaint against the prosecutor, claiming that he has made numerous press statements that were “prejudicial to the administration of justice” and also “engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation.”

This is gonna leave a mark.

Gee, I wonder where I saw a discussion of vehicle survival kits on a blog?

Wow.  Instapundit is so on top of this.  Good thing nobody else did this online and emailed him four times about it or anything or got on the front page of digg.com with a few hundred comments, dozens and dozens of which contain great suggestions that go into detail and reasoning behind each choice.

I don’t want to be Super Mr. Whiny Guy, but it bugs me that the “A-listers” do this crap.  They only link to each other, they *never* trickle anything down anymore and they all steal material from us low-life nobodies.  Especially when they don’t like you.

Oh well.  At least I have you.  Yes.  You.  Specifically.  You, reading this.  I love you.  Wanna make out?

Rino Sightings for 11/20/2006 - The lazy Thanksgiving edition

I’m doing the hosting for the Raging RINOs Sightings this week on a short-notice situation.  This was going to be a long, complicated story about the first Thanksgiving with all these funny and witty things that wove all the RINO posts together and included all the standard Thanksgiving jokes.  Unfortunately I’m not known for my motivation to actually do things, so I’m resorting to a lazy trick.  Just, umm...pretend I was funny and I swear next time I’ll do something more deserving.  Consider this the “JimK is lazy, use your imagination” Thanksgiving episode of the RINO Sightings.

I WILL PULL THIS COUNTRY OVER AND GIVE YOU SUCH A SMACK

Do you know what the blogosphere looks like to me since the election?  Oh hell, since the 2004 election?

“YOU STARTED IT!” “NO YOU DID!” “Nuh-UH!” “YUH-HUH!” “Nuh-UH!” “YUH-HUH!” “Nuh-UH!” “YUH-HUH!” *SMACK* *SMACK BACK* “QUIT IT!” “NO YOU QUIT IT!”

Why don’t you all shut the fuck up for five minutes already?  Go outside.  Have a glass of wine.  Smoke a bowl.  Get laid.  Step away from the news for a day.  The world will not end and neither will you.

Trust me...you’ll feel better about things if you take a wee short break from the 24/7 news cycle of doom, despair and blame.  Here.  Look at something cute:
