Delay…

OK, I have been cutting audio and writig stuff all day and there’s no frigging way I’m going to be able to prepare *and* record a Starkcast today.

I wanted to move the release anyway.  Let me take some opinions...should I release on Monday or Friday?  Monday seems like more people would get it for commutes and so forth, and internet traffic drops like 40% on weekends, so Friday may be a bad plan.  If I released Monday I could take the whole weekend to record and tweak before releasing late Sunday night…

So yeah, I’ve just about made up my mind haven’t I?  :)

So, looks like people could squeeze in some voice mail calls if they were so inclined…

Gear…

I think I’m set up for doing some decent quality podcasts now...no more of this muted, noisy vocal.

I got a nice-but-cheap condenser mic, but it picks up too much...my house is not a studio, so you end up hearing even the air coming through the vents.  Bah.  Turns out I had a great mic the whole time...I have a DJ rig in the basement and packed away in the road case was a nice Samson Q2.  Old, but perfect for my noisy house.

Since my soundcard is actually built in to my motherboard, it generates so much noise it’s amazing.  To get around it, I bought an M-Audio MobilePre USB: mic and instrument inputs and on-board sound processing, thereby avoiding the noisy soundcard.  Plus it powers the condenser mic should I ever have need for a second mic.

Add in the stand, pop filter and cable, and the grand total is under $225.  Not bad for a very mobile recording solution...this would work with any laptop, Mac or PC.

Theme music?

Looking for an assist on some royalty-free theme music for The Starkcast.  I’m partial, for radio theme music, to electronica or industrial-tinged electronica.  Think Crystal Method meets Nine Inch Nails.

Anyone out there looking to promote their music?  I’ll mention you on each and every show...and if it takes off (fingers crossed of course) then who knows who might hear your song(s).

I’m looking for instrumental, original material, something with a nice 30 and 60-ish second post to hit in the intro.  In exchange you can have my first-born and some blood if you’re so inclined.  ;)
