When claiming a business name...or re-claiming it, as the case may be, one should actually fire up the old domain registrar and drop 8 bucks or so to make sure that no one beats you to the punch.
That’s simply embarrassing and sad for internet-aware bloggers. If this had been a lefty group, the very egos in charge of this FUBARed venture would be laughing their asses off and linking to each other making fun of the “dumb little lefties.”
Ok, now I’m definitely being an asshole about this. You want ‘em, boys? Let’s see you apologize to each of your most vocal critics for the coordinated attack on them, apologize to the partners you wronged in forming this debacle, and admit that you’re frigging clueless and you need some tech geeks to help you build the portal. I’ll give ‘em up for free if you geniuses are honest about this thing for 5 frigging minutes.
Why am I going on and on about this? Because these dunces are the ones that the media are going to look to when doing stories on bloggers. What they’ve done is turn the right side of the Blogosphere into a running joke. A failed venture. A laughingstock, easily dismissed as amateurs who can’t get it together. They created ridiculous content restrictions. They insulted the very people they’re supposed to represent. What truly astounds me is when their immense cock-ups were pointed out, they lashed out at those who dared question The Almighty Elite. You just don’t do that. When you’re wrong, man up, nancyboy. Admit you screwed the pooch. I expect it from my president, myself, my family and friends...I damn sure expect it from the side of the Blogosphere that claims to be right. You don’t attack and insult those who are pointing out truths that are so accurate you have to change your goddamned business name after spending tens of thousands of dollars on a coming out party with your craptastical stolen moniker.
That’s not something to champion, nor is it something to cheer for. It’s pathetic, and if it was Kos and Atrios that started “Progressives Media” and fucked it eight ways from Sunday, there would be a hundred thousand links on Technorati about it.
Take a look at the OSM/Pajamas blogroll. See how many of them are pissed, were pissed or are currently laughing at CNN for the whole X marks the Cheney thing.
